Volunteer

MMIA would be overwhelmed without the help of our outstanding volunteers. Our volunteers participate in everything we do and we have a group of core volunteers who manage some of our programs.

We have many opportunities for Volunteers. This is a list of things that you can volunteer for:

  • Office Staffing: Can you commit yourself to four hours per week or once or twice a month? We would like our office to be staffed during regular business hours, in four-hour segments: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

  • Basement Babes / Cellar Dwellers: (As they affectionately call themselves) - this dedicated team work on Care Package prep/shipping and other projects.

  • Warehouse work: Help on occasions of pallet deliveries, unboxing, restocking shelves, organizing, and clean up.

  • Furniture Pick-up / Delivery: Help our Homes For Healing Program Manager deliver or pick-up furniture items.

  • Events: Help set up and staff booths for public outreach to pass out materials and answer questions about MMIA. (ie. Jersey Mikes Day of Giving, Follow The Flag Rally, Freedom Balloon Festival, Bikefest, gun shows, and community fairs)

  • Homeless Veteran Stand Downs: Set up tables or booth and help distribute HVSD kits to Veterans. (must be able to travel within state with some overnight commitments)

  • Specific experience:  Use your talents for any number of jobs, committees and teams. (ie. holiday projects, warehouse organization, group work parties, furnishing kit assembly, clothing sort, wash & fold, office administration, thank you note writing, grant writing, marketing kit assembly of promotional materials, social media marketing, golf tournaments, videography, photography, etc)

  • Construction Building/Project experience: Use your construction/trade skills to help build wheelchair ramps, home modifications, or completely remodel a home. Each project requires both skilled and unskilled volunteers. (ie. skilled trade or building experience or general assistance like getting workers lunch and helping with light physical activities)

  • Organize Fundraisers: Organize fundraising events which can be done by individuals or groups. (ie. bake sales, lemonade or hot chocolate stand, collect change, car wash, auctioning of items, themed dinners/lunches/breakfasts, 5k, community yard sale, etc)

Even if  you have lots of time on your hands or can only spare a few hours per month, there is a volunteer opportunity that MMIA needs you for. You can make a definite impact in the lives of others and on the success of MMIA's mission!
